Fear Free Movement

What does it mean to be a “Fear Free” veterinary practice, and will you seek one out for your pet? Everyone has felt this feeling before- the anxious and somewhat nervous feeling you get right before entering your doctors office for a problem, or even for an annual wellness checkup. Imagine how your beloved pet feels when they visit a veterinarian. Firstly, let us think about how stressful it must be just getting to the visit- they are removed from the comfort and stability of their home, in some cases they are......

Summer Dog

Hi Friends!   Warmer months are some of the most enjoyed months, welcomed by humans and pets alike.  Most of us crave adventure and outdoor experience, and many of us bring our pets to join in on the fun.  Here are 5 tips I have put together, on how to keep your pet safe and happy during this summer’s fun.   1) Never Leave Your Dog in a Hot Car!  This is some of the best advice I can give, and I CANNOT emphasize this life-saving tip enough!  Every summer, dogs fall victim to this death, and it is so......

The Colorado Trail

2016 presents many opportunities for the pack at Peak Animal Wellness and Massage.  Let’s go ahead and start from the (almost) beginning. For many years now, I have envisioned myself enduring and completing a thru-hike.  A “thru-hike” is defined as a long distance trail from end to end.  A great example is the Pacific Crest Trail, a 2,663 mile trail that begins in Mexico and ends in Canada.  Every year, approximately 750 people start and finish this 6 month pilgrimage.  If I am to speculate, my guess is that the PCT thru-hiker’s lives are changed forever, somewhere......

It all started on during one of me and Claire’s early Thursday morning hikes up Sanitas Ridge in Boulder. As veterinary technicians, we cherish this time together to chat about our jobs- cases we have encountered, practices we have adopted, new skills we have......

Old-Dogs-in-Boulder

AGE IS NOT A DISEASE. “Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog.” – Sydney Jeanne Seward As my practice continues to grow, over 50% of my patients are animals in their golden years.  It is with deep gratitude and honor that I work on these animals, and with some amazing results.  While almost any dog can benefit from massage therapy, it’s especially true for senior dogs. Our dogs grow and age similarly to us.  The once overly rambunctious and naughty puppy will eventually begin to slow down.  Age is not a disease, and......

Active dog

DOGS ARE AMAZING! We ask so much out of our dogs, sometimes without even knowing it (myself included!).  Our dogs will give and give and give – for the sake of fun, socialization, to please you and to please themselves.  All dogs enjoy their jobs, and active dogs tend to take their job very seriously.  Whatever the job is, chances are your dog is ready to roll right when you pull out the leash and collar.  Since our dogs are some of the most enthusiastic and loyal companions most of us will......

Finding a Veterinarian That You Trust & FIVE Common Symptoms That Indicate Your Pet Should Visit a Vet!

IF YOU CAN’T TRUST YOUR VETERINARIAN, THEN IT’S PROBABLY TIME TO FIND A NEW ONE!   I am certain that if you are reading this blog, that you adore your furry friend! If you don’t trust your veterinarian, you’re likely to never feel comfortable taking their professional advice, leaving your animal in their care, or even returning back for future visits.
